The body is an oloid: everything visible is built from two circles and the straight lines between them, and every line is exactly the same length. Turned a quarter of a revolution, it reads as a different lamp. The form was described by Paul Schatz in 1929. Its surface measures exactly four times pi times the radius squared, 804 square centimetres, and every line in that surface is 138.56 mm long. Model DAV-E27-08.

Built layer by layer

A fine bead of material, laid down layer upon layer. The ridges are the record of the process, left exactly as the printer laid them. Lit, they catch the light like the grain of a shell.

How it is made

Made to order in a Swedish studio

Every lamp begins as a three-dimensional model, shaped and refined on screen until the proportions feel right. The form is then built in thin horizontal layers over several hours, and each layer becomes a permanent part of the surface.

Hardware is assembled by hand. Every piece is inspected, tested and packaged individually. The lamp that arrives is the lamp that was made for you.
